SARA DE LA ROSA RUIZ, Editor at All you need is Biology
Graduate in Biology, Master in Management and Conservation of Wildlife and Protected Areas, Master in Ethology and Master’s in Secundary Education.
I had my first contacts with nature when I was only 10 years old, and I knew that I wanted to be a vet.
However, I started to study Biology, involving in some environment volunteer programs, in which I discovered a perfect way to develop my vocation as a “conservation biologist”. Since then, I have worked to be a specialist in wildlife conservation.
I have worked with different species, particularly with raptors: management, breeding, and recovery in the nature, so in management conservation projects. Working closely with animals enabled me to learn issues about their behaviors and increase my interest in Ethological research, that currently as well as working on a LIFE project about biodiversity conservation.
My aim in these articles is make know birds to appreciate their value and to involve in their conservation.

I wouldn’t have never imagine, at the age of 5, while I picked up green tomatoes from the garden of my grandfather (with a little reprimand included) and watched how a daily procession of ants collected seeds without stopping, that I would end as a biologist. These typical events in the field, so common to many, were part of my summer distractions and they fascinated a city boy who had barely set foot in a forest in his life. However, thanks to these stimuli, and a good environment that helped me to cultivate this growing interest in the organisms, I became who I am. I graduated in Environmental Biology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and, in the same year, I decided to follow the academic career studying the Masters in Terrestrial Ecology offered by the same university, which I am still studying. My master’s thesis is focused on studying the variables that influence the spatial distribution of carbon stocks in forests of Mexico.
One of my dreams is, in the not too distant future, to work on projects related to tropical ecology, biome that I admire the most since I was very young for its biodiversity and the intimate relationships between species, besides being one of the most threatened biomes on the planet.
My hobbies are sports, movies and TV series, reading, videogames and spending time with my people.

Degree in Genetics at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).
I graduated in Genetics at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, part of 3rd promotion of geneticist in Spain.
In genetics, what inspired me the most was medical genetics because help other people makes me feel better. This is one reason to do volunteering.
Since I was young, I am interested in teach and transmit my knowledge. In my articles I want to introduce the genetic world easily, for all public.

Degree in Biology at University of Balearic Islands (UIB).
Since I was young, I’m mad about nature. In high school,I knew the exciting word of Microbes and I started to learn more about this organisms. This discovery change my life and I felt in love with microbes, parasites, virus…
For this reason I decided to study Biology in the University of Balearic Islands (UIB). I expounded my essay about Microbiological Vectors for gene therapy amb my complementary formation is also focussed on microbiology.
Sections: Microbiology and Parasitology.
LAIA BARRES GONZÁLEZ, Editor at All you need is Biology
PhD in botany by the University of Barcelona. I studied my doctoral thesis at the Botanical Institute of Barcelona (CSIC -ICUB), which focused on understanding the evolution and biogeography of two groups of plants, the Macaronesian Euphorbia shrubs known as tabaibas and Cardueae subtribe (Asteraceae). Master in biology and biodiversity also by the University of Barcelona. Professionalized in science education and education for sustainability, I worked in several environmental education centers and science museums.
I am currently conducting a research project at the Federal University of Bahia (Salvador, Brazil) focused on the phylogeography of Richterago (Asteraceae), an endemic and threatened genus in the Espinhaço Range as a postdoctoral fellow.
My hobbies are photography, hiking, cooking and travel.

As far back as I can remember, I’ve been very interested about nature and environmental issues. My passion for these subjects was the reason I decided to study the Environmental Biology degree at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). I’m very interested on animals, especially on insects, because of what I got specialized in animals at the end of my degree.
I had the chance to collaborate with one of the most influential ecology investigation centers of Catalonia, CREAF, where I took part of a wide study about the ecology and functions of different pollinator insects.
At present, I work as environmental educator and I’m waiting to begin a master’s degree about Biodiversity at Universitat de Barcelona (UB).

Since I was a kid the exploration of the seas has fascinated me, a simple diving googles and a snorkel made me discover new experiences in every dive. This passion lead me to focus my studies towards the Marine Biology, with the grade on Biology (UB) and the master in Oceanography and Management of the Marine Environment (UB). My complementary formation is also focussed on the oceans and animal behaviour.
Nowadays I’m starting my phd in which I’m evaluating the use of marine wired platforms in the study of the behaviour and rhythms of fish communities and their relation with the environmental within they inhabit.
In the same time I’m a Dive Master and I’m training for being Diving Instructor. You can be in touch with me in LinkedIn.

MIREIA QUEROL ROVIRA, Editor of All you need is Biology
Graduated in Biology for the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Master in Impact Assessments and Environment Auditory for the International University Study Centre.
Since I was young, I felt the necessity to understand the world around us and with whom are we sharing the planet. Trying to give answer to some of this questions, I decided to study biology and, concretely, zoology, and I’ve been learning since this moment. I love science in general and its dissemination and I have wide experience in no formal education in fauna centres and museums of science. I have also worked in the maintenance of wild fauna in captivity and them reintroduction in the environment.
My hobbies are astronomy, photography and hiking. You can be in tough with me on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and AboutMe.
Sections: Terrestrial mammals and Human evolution.

Graduate in Environmental Biology in the Autonomic University of Barcelona.
When I was a young child my father used to carry me to mountains. He was the reason why I found out my interest about nature and especially about plants. That interest was growing and I decided to study a degree focused on a naturalistic vision about biology. Then, I got specialized about pants and also started to help on botany investigation in the same university. Now, I still continue helping there, just because botany is a part of my life.
