Sara de la Rosa Ruiz: Biography

SARA DE LA ROSA RUIZ, Editor at All you need is Biology

Sara-de-la-Rosa-RuizCollaborator from May 2016 to May 2017.

Graduate in Biology, Master in Management and Conservation of Wildlife and Protected Areas, Master in Ethology and Master’s in Secundary Education.

I had my first contacts with nature when I was only 10 years old, and I knew that I wanted to be a vet.

However, I started to study Biology, involving in some environment volunteer programs, in which I discovered a perfect way to develop my vocation as a “conservation biologist”. Since then, I have worked to be a specialist in wildlife conservation.

I have worked with different species, particularly with raptors: management, breeding, and recovery in the nature, so in management conservation projects. Working closely with animals enabled me to learn issues about their behaviors and increase my interest in Ethological research, that currently as well as working on a LIFE project about biodiversity conservation.

My aim in these articles is make know birds to appreciate their value and to involve in their conservation.

Ricard Arasa Gisbert: Biography

RICARD ARASA GISBERT, Editor in All you need is Biology

Ricard-Arasa-Gisbert

Collaborator from May 2016 to February 2017.

I wouldn’t have never imagine, at the age of 5, while I picked up green tomatoes from the garden of my grandfather (with a little reprimand included) and watched how a daily procession of ants collected seeds without stopping, that I would end as a biologist. These typical events in the field, so common to many, were part of my summer distractions and they fascinated a city boy who had barely set foot in a forest in his life. However, thanks to these stimuli, and a good environment that helped me to cultivate this growing interest in the organisms, I became who I am. I graduated in Environmental Biology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and, in the same year, I decided to follow the academic career studying the Masters in Terrestrial Ecology offered by the same university, which I am still studying. My master’s thesis is focused on studying the variables that influence the spatial distribution of carbon stocks in forests of Mexico.

One of my dreams is, in the not too distant future, to work on projects related to tropical ecology, biome that I admire the most since I was very young for its biodiversity and the intimate relationships between species, besides being one of the most threatened biomes on the planet.

My hobbies are sports, movies and TV series, reading, videogames and spending time with my people.

Irene Lobato Vila: Biography

IRENE LOBATO VILA, Editor on All you need is Biology

Irene

Collaborator since March 2015.

As far back as I can remember, I’ve been very interested about nature and environmental issues. My passion for these subjects was the reason I decided to study the Environmental Biology degree at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). I’m very interested on animals, especially on insects, because of what I got specialized in animals at the end of my degree.

I had the chance to collaborate with one of the most influential ecology investigation centers of Catalonia, CREAF, where I took part of a wide study about the ecology and functions of different pollinator insects.

At present, I work as environmental educator and I’m waiting to begin a master’s degree about Biodiversity at Universitat de Barcelona (UB).

This passion lead me to focus my studies towards the Marine Biology, with the grade on Biology (UB) and the master in Oceanography and Management of the Marine Environment (UB). My complementary formation is also focussed on the oceans and animal behaviour.

Nowadays I’m starting my phd in which I’m evaluating the use of marine wired platforms in the study of the behaviour and rhythms of fish communities and their relation with the environmental within they inhabit.

In the same time I’m a Dive Master and I’m training for being Diving Instructor. You can be in touch with me in LinkedIn.
